It’s the last day of the year, I’m lying in bed motionless, feeling the kicks and vibrations of this little flame growing inside of me, listening to my beloved breathe as he sleeps and wondering what to have for breakfast.
My heart is quiet, overwhelmed by peace and overflowing with joy. My mind is trying to unpack the last twelve months, I have nothing to thank myself for, nothing to boast about, no tangible achievement to hang up on the wall or any trophies to put up, all I have at the end of 2014 are two words: Thank You.
I have never felt this close to God, I have never let my guard down this much for Him, I have never let Him wreck me this way and I have never been this confident in calling Him friend. It’s not all about what He has done for me this year, it is mostly what I decided to make Him this year, what I decided to say yes to and how I decided to accept who He is and embrace it. This last year, I decided to take God as He is, the parts I love and hate, the parts I find silly and the parts that scare me, and for what He’s let me see about Him, I want to say: Thank You.
My year was also made up of a number of people willing to express love and kindness towards me, 2014 was a year of learning how to be taken care of, having nothing to repay the debt love is and forcefully allowing myself to be showered with undeserved kindness from every angle. Here are some of my infinite thank you’s to those who were part of this year:
Denise Durand, thank you for giving me a home, for the love, food, shelter, clothes and everything you did to inconvenience yourself for the sake of helping me.
Carla Mackay and Beverley Mthembi, for being so generous with who you are and the knowledge you shared, for being the most amazing people to work for, for the amount of caffeine, mango’s, cookies and everything that resulted in my bigger waist size. Thank you for the love and support you effortlessly showed me.
My family, thank you for being you, for supporting and loving me unconditionally, for the fact that I can count on you, thank you for loving the man I chose, for loving my decisions and for encouraging me to be better. I would also like to thank my in laws for accepting me as their own, for the love and the lessons. Thank you.
Unathi and Langa Mbonambi, you have been everything!! I cannot even be specific about what I am thankful for, I just want to say thank you for being so generous with your hearts towards us. For loving us so deeply, for your amazing meals, for the laughs, for the endless sacrifices, for the time spent, for basically being our parents, friends, mentors and everything mashed in one. You have truly been everything! Thank you for that.
Kumkanikazi and Hubolodumo Mbonambi, thank you for overwhelming me with joy every time, for all the heart warming and heart melting moments, for all the laughs, the tiring moments and everything you gave colour to in my life.
Thembi and Julius Sikhuza, thank you for your illogical generosity, for having no obligations or rewards but still choosing to be generous and willing to help every time.
Papatso and Stella Mopaka, thank you for opening your home to us, for all the food, the laughs, the chats, the highs the lows, the movies, for the simple things and complicated things, thank you for being a significant part of our first year of marriage, something I’ll always treasure.
The 122 Annie crew, thank you for all the laughs, sleep overs and beautiful moments. Sango, Lush, Marayza, thank you for always taking me in without complaints, and to your other house-mates for not complaining about me being there all the time- well not to my face anyway. 🙂
My wedding artists, thank you for taking time out to present a beautiful bride, from the hair, nails, makeup and everything else that went into that, it really felt special. Rebby for offering to buy me make up, Rorisang for taking hours doing my hair, Tiddoh for spending her last rands making sure I have hair (hehe), Mphokie for doing my nails, Aphiwe my make-up artist and Mdingi for being my hair dresser- although this seems irrelevant, I felt and looked amazing on my big day because of the little you felt you were helping with. Thank you.
Legora’s, Ditsele’s, soon to be Gumede’s and beautiful Aphiwe, thank you for being family. Those friends closer than brothers (or sisters), for always being there, for the low budget braai’s, for all the 30 second games we’ve shared (gag), for the love, laughs, for this beautiful friendship at every level. Thanks for doing life with us.
Mphokie, Sango, Aphiwe- you have my heart, my life wouldn’t be the same without your friendship. I love you so much, thank you for dedicating your days to loving me.
My day 1, my lover and friend- Torch Everblazing: I have never been so sure about a decision, everything about what we have makes me love life more and more everyday. You are tailor made for me my love, your presence is nothing but a blessing to me, you make me grateful for life everyday. Thank you for loving and choosing me daily. May we have many more amazing years. Langavi Hlungwani- my heart a flame, your heart the source, may it burn into the forever God chooses for us.
To everyone who has been a part of my year, for anyone who has served us in anyway, from paying our rent, taking us out on a date, prayed for us, loved on us, anyone who has intentionally supported us, willingly been part of helping us enjoy our life, THANK YOU so much.
To those who diligently read my blog, thank you for that. I hope sharing my life has somehow helped, even if it’s just one person, I hope my thoughts, testimonies and life lessons have had an impact. Thank you for your support, for being part of the reason I want to write and share what I have.
Thank you Abba for the gift of life, especially one this amazing.
Happy new year everyone!!!!!
Complimeeents!!
